*According to https://pines.georgialibraries.org/about, "Georgia Library PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public library automation and lending network for 300 libraries and affiliated service outlets in 51 library systems covering 146 counties. PINES creates a statewide "borderless library" that provides equal access to information for all Georgians."

The Glascock County Library, a branch of the Oconee Regional Library System, has partnered with the Glascock County School System to offer a free PINES Library Access for Youth (PLAY) library card -- especially designed for grades Pre-k through 12 – to all students in the school system.

There is nothing you have to do to take advantage of this program; students will automatically be issued a PLAY library card account to support academic success.

The PLAY Card account provides each GCCS student with free materials (books, magazines) and online resources from the public library to help your child succeed in school, along with fun resources to support a lifelong love of reading.

Benefits:

  • The PLAY card can be used to check out up to five items at a time at the library -- including books, DVDs, chromebooks, launchpads, and passes to museums and parks -- fine free!  PLAY accounts will only accrue charges for lost, damaged, or long overdue items.

  • Check out eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines and read them on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.  The public library has thousands of titles available through eRead Kids, Libby, and Palace Project.  The books automatically return at the end of the lending period -- no more worrying about lost library books or overdue fines.
