Learn the Signs

Dyslexia is a language-based learning difference that primarily affects reading, spelling, and written language skills. While every child is unique, some common signs may include: 

• Difficulty learning letter names and sounds

• Trouble rhyming or identifying beginning sounds in words

• Challenges blending sounds to read words

• Frequent spelling errors

• Slow or inaccurate reading 

• Difficulty remembering sight words 

• Avoiding reading or becoming frustrated with reading tasks 

Having one or more of these characteristics does not necessarily mean a child has dyslexia, but they may indicate a need for additional support or screening.
