Distraction Free Education Act
Glascock County Schools is a Distraction-Free Learning Environment. The Distraction-Free Education Act (HB340) applies to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Under this law, there will be no personal electronic devices allowed during the instructional day. To maintain consistency across all grade levels, we will continue to implement the same rule for grades 9–12, prohibiting device use during the instructional day.
Board Policy JCDAF (approved 8/21/2025) states:
Students in grades K-12 are not permitted to access personal electronic devices while on school premises during school hours, including but not limited to cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, e-readers, headphones, earbuds, and other devices with functionalities such as wireless communication, internet access, messaging, video recording, gaming, social media access, or data transmission during school hours. Any student found in violation of this policy and/or its procedures during the school day shall be subject to progressive discipline consequences as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
