Graduation Ceremony

Graduation Commencement is a time honored ceremony which is generally considered to be the most important and revered service held by any educational institution.  As such, it is the school’s responsibility to make every attempt to provide a dignified graduation ceremony for graduates and their families and supporters.  All available weather forecasts indicate rain is more than likely on Thursday and Friday.  Glascock County EMA Director, Mike Lyons, has been consulted and indicates that information available to him confirms the current forecasts.   As there are significant preparations and practices that must occur prior to graduation, a decision regarding the venue has to be made in advance.  Although Graduation has been held at the football stadium in recent years, current weather conditions create substantial concern with use of an outdoor venue.  No other school event is better attended by the elderly than graduation commencement. After careful consideration to ensure an honorable ceremony, respectful of graduates and their families and guests, the 2018 Graduation Commencement will be held in the GCCS K-12 Gymnatorium at 1230 Panther Way.  This will ensure quality photography, videography and an otherwise positive experience for all stakeholders.  All GCCS Graduation ceremonies were held at this venue from 1996-2011 with complete success.
