School Days Lost To Winter Weather Excused
On February 20, 2014 Georgia’s State Board of Education passed a resolution effectively authorizing local School Boards to determine whether the school days lost to weather related concerns of January 28-30 and February 12-14, 2014 would be excused for students and employees. The Glascock County Board of Education recognizes that this weather is unprecedented and has caused great concern for regular school operations. The Board and school administration do not believe that these days can be effectively recaptured within the time frame of the normal school year.
The Glascock County School System will not require students or staff to make up the Emergency School Closing days that were missed during these weather events which were recognized by both the Governor and State Board of Education.
(Glascock County was included in the region declared a State of Emergency by Governor Deal for both weather events.)
On November 21, 2013 the Glascock County Board of Education approved the Glascock County School System Charter Application. The documents found on this page include the application and exhibits as required by the Georgia Department of Education. Please contact Jim Holton (email@example.com) if you have any questions. Also, visit the Georgia Department of Education Charter Division for more information on Charter Systems in Georgia.
